GOING BACK, GIVING BACK

Community Service at '78's Top 40th

The great Class of 1978 has fantastic plans for our Top 40th. Some activities will be familiar, and others will be new. Familiar? Returning to Princeton, reconnecting with friends, and remembering our undergraduate lives forty years ago. New to this Reunion? Going Back, Giving Back, coordinated Community Service projects, in which we will join with the great classes of 1983, 2003, 2008, and 2013 to help low-income children and young adults who have experienced poverty, abuse, and neglect develop safe, supportive environments where they can unleash their full potential and become self-reliant members of their communities.

THURSDAY, MAY 31st, NEWARK, NJ

Join us on Thursday for the morning (9:00am - noon), the afternoon (1:30pm - 4:30pm), or both. Chose to work alongside other Princetonians as we help the youth who are involved at one of these local community-based organizations:

Work on an affordable housing site with YOUTHBUILD (https://www.youthbuild.org), where 16-24 year olds who did not finish high school enroll for a school year to restart their education, learn work skills while building affordable housing in their community, engage in community service, and receive leadership training.

Help improve program spaces at HETRICK-MARTIN (http://www.hmi.org/newjerseywhich welcomes LGBTQ students who are at-risk of harassment, abuse, neglect, homelessness and in need of finding a safe, supportive environment in which to grow and thrive.

Paint houses with ARFC/ST CLARE'S HOUSING (http://www.hmi.org/newjersey) where students who are the victims of abuse and those impacted by HIV/AIDS find housing and the stability needed to live healthy lives.

Getting there: Fly into Newark Airport and cab/Uber/Lyft over, drive and park in public garages, or take mass transit. However you get there, it will be an amazing experience, we will feed you lunch, and there will be a bus at the end of the day that will get you to campus in time for registration, our cocktail party, and the '78/'18 Talent Show: "Tonight's the Night - Talent on the Eights."

DONATE ESSENTIALS

Support the young people at these three Newark, NJ organizations by donating (through Amazon) essential daily living items and toiletries to help provide a safe & supportive living environment and greater self-sufficiency.
